Gloriana

Gloriana is one of the Fairy Queens of the Seelie Court, based in Solas Realta in Fairyland. She is known as the Summer Queen.

Physical Appearance

Artistic interpretations of Queen Gloriana often show her as a stunning fairy woman with somewhat Elven features, golden skin, and shimmering hair that seems to have a life of its own. She only wears the finest, most opulent gowns in warm, passionate colors.

History

Gloriana is spoken of in legend, often considered to be the most beautiful of the Fairy Queens, a feat in itself. While it is known that she, like the other three, opposes the evil intentions of Oberon and the Unseelie Court, not much else is certain about the Summer Queen. What is often accepted as fact is that she is an art admirer, said to visit the most truly gifted artists across the Void, taking pieces of art and, on rare occasion, commissioning likenesses of herself.

Realm

The Golden Country of Solas Realta is the domain of Queen Gloriana. It is a bright and beautiful land, populated not only on its verdant fields but also in the solid clouds floating above. Many Seelie nobles make their homes here in castles and mansions, holding lavish garden parties that last for days or even weeks at a time. The Summer Queen herself is based in Caisleán Ghrian, the Castle of the Sun. While it is her home and where she holds court, Gloriana primarily sees Caisleán Ghrian as the place where she keeps her massive art collection.

Servants

Gloriana is served by a number of powerful Fae, many of them Seelie nobles bound to her in contracts that make a complicated mockery of mortal oaths of fealty.

Among Gloriana's servants are her art collectors, including a Painter who traps beings in the portraits he paints of them, and a shapeshifting Changeling who copies the unique forms of different creatures to please his queen.

Worshipers

Gloriana counts among her followers and worshipers mostly fairies of her domain, though there are others in Fairyland who worship her as well. There are however few outside of the Primal World who worship Gloriana, at least not without first being manipulated into it by her.

Allies and Enemies

Queen Gloriana is an ally of the other three Fairy Queens, who together oppose King Oberon and his bleak, destructive Court. While she is not known to have any other allies, she is thought to have good relations with some more independent Fae nobles, such as Queen Rhianon of the Fleetwood. The Summer Queen is also said to be an enemy of the Baba Yaga for some unknown slight in the distant past.
