Mummies are a powerful form of Undead, on a level with Liches and elder Vampires. They are created through curses and embalming processes, sometimes one or both of which being botched. The embalmed corpse rises from death as a powerful type of undead, capable of wielding great and calamitous magic, and often with very great resilience to harm. Many are similar to Liches, unable to truly die until their canopic organ jars are either destroyed or returned to their bodies, rendering them whole and therefore vulnerable.
Mummies often sleep for centuries in their tombs until something disturbs them, often grave robbers. Upon being awakened from their rest the Mummy, like many forms of undead, seeks vengeance, first against those who disturbed it, then against everything around.
